June 22, 23, 24: Three Key Atlantic Yards Meetings
This week there are three key meetings where the next stages of
the Atlantic Yards fight will come slightly more into focus.
We strongly encourage you to attend any of these meetings that you are able to
and to give comment relevant to the actions the two agencies plan on taking. BUT,
if you can only attend one, we'd suggest the June 23rd ESDC Board Meeting
or the June 24 MTA Board meeting. (Note below: The ESDC meeting requires
RSVP.)
Here is the latest on the
incredibly crooked dealings the State of New York, Governor
Patrerson, the ESDC and the MTA are cooking up on behalf of Bruce Ratner
Here are the details on This Week's Meetings:
All meetings are open to the public for observation and comment.
> Monday, June 22. 11:45am
MTA Finance Committee Meeting
at MTA Headquarters, 347
Madison Avenue (44-45), 5th Floor Board Room.
The committee is expected to present a renegotiated agreement with Ratner for
the rights to the rail yards, and approve passing the agreement to the Board for
its approval. (As of today it is not yet clear if an agreement on the new deal
has been reached.)
> Tuesday, June 23. 9am
Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC) Board
Meeting
at ESDC offices, 37th Floor, 633
Third Avenue (40-41) in Manhattan.
The ESDC Board
is expected to present and adopt a modified General Project Plan for Atlantic
Yards, triggering a 60-day comment period.
>> Members of the public who wish to attend
the meeting are instructed to
RSVP to (212) 803-3760.
(If you get a voicemail, leave your name and phone number
and that you will attend the board meeting.)
> Wednesday, June 24. 9:30am
Full MTA Board Meeting
at MTA Headquarters, 347
Madison Avenue (44-45), 5th Floor Board Room.
It is expected that the Board will be presented with a new Ratner rail yard deal
and vote on it, if the Finance Committee recommends such action to them.
MTA meeting rules:
Registration opens 15 minutes before scheduled start of committee meetings
and 30 minutes before the start of each board meeting.
Registration must be done in person.
Statements must be about agenda items only.
Two minute speaking limit.
Speaking time may not be transferred.
